Faruk Eczacıbaşı
Vice ChairpersonFaruk Eczacıbaşı completed his undergraduate studies in business administration and economics, and earned his master’s degree in business administration at Berlin Technical University. He joined Eczacıbaşı Holding’s Planning Department in 1980 at the beginning of his professional career. After serving for a period as Product Manager at Eczacıbaşı Pharmaceuticals, he assumed the roles of Deputy General Manager and subsequently General Manager at Padeko Pharmaceuticals in 1987.
In 1989, he founded Eczacıbaşı Information and Communication Technologies Inc., where he led the Eczacıbaşı Group’s e-transformation process for many years.
Faruk Eczacıbaşı has served as Vice-Chairperson of the Eczacıbaşı Holding Board of Directors since 1996 and holds the positions of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson on the boards of several Eczacıbaşı Group companies. He has also been President of the Eczacıbaşı Sports Club since 1999.
He is the President of the Turkish Informatics Foundation (TBV), which he co-founded in 1995 with the vision of “technology for good” and with the aim of supporting Turkey’s transformation into an information society. Through the Foundation, he continues to contribute to the preparation of research reports and to efforts that help shape public policy in this field.
Faruk Eczacıbaşı is the author of the book Daha Yeni Başlıyor (2018), which examines the opportunities and challenges brought about by technological developments and discusses what the future may hold for the world, with both its positive and negative dimensions. His personal interests include science fiction and horror films, hiking, jazz and classical music, and contemporary art.
