Sustainability Strategy

Sustainability is an approach that takes into account the economic, environmental and social impact of current decisions, activities and plans on people and our planet. In line with its unconditional respect for people and the environment, the Eczacıbaşı Group is voluntarily integrating sustainability principles into all its business processes, from production through to marketing, human resources and logistics, and applying them in the development of its products, services, brands, business fields, and choice of technologies.

Sustainability is both a business approach and life philosophy for the Eczacıbaşı Group. Taking the lead in both areas, we have established Sustainability Working Groups to evaluate and benchmark our sustainability performance both locally and globally and to expand the sustainable development activities of our businesses. The Working Groups are also spearheading efforts to enhance employee awareness and knowledge of sustainability issues, so as to assist our companies use their resources more effectively and achieve sustainable success.

In accordance with precise guidelines, Eczacıbaşı Group companies report a wide range of operational data, from human resource applications to production, on a quarterly basis. This data is then consolidated centrally on a regular basis to determine Group-wide performance and set quarterly and annual improvement targets. In this manner, we encourage our companies to measure and evaluate their performance, plan for improvements, and share best practices with each other.

In 2008, two years after signing the UN Global Compact, the Eczacıbaşı Group began to publish annual reports of its sustainability activities. In 2010, the Group became the first in Turkey to report consolidated energy consumption and carbon emissions data assured by the international accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

All Eczacıbaşı Group sustainability activities are reported to, and coordinated by, the CEO.
