Founded in 1978 as a member of the Eczacıbaşı Group, Esan was established to supply high-quality raw materials to the ceramics industry.
Today, Esan is one of Turkey’s leading producers of industrial minerals and metallic ores, processing the value derived from natural resources in line with the principles of responsible mining. With industrial raw materials such as feldspar, bentonite, and kaolin, Esan plays a key role in the supply chains of numerous industries—from ceramics and glass to paint and plastics.
Leveraging its expertise in industrial raw materials, Esan expanded into metallic mining in 2009 with its lead and zinc mining investment in Balya. As Turkey’s deepest underground mine, the Balya facility has positioned Esan as the country’s largest exporter of lead.
Awarded six times as the title of “Export Champion” by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly, Esan successfully represents its vision of sustainable growth on the international stage. With a wide product range extending from industrial minerals to metallic ores, Esan exports to more than 45 countries. The company stands out not only for its production strength but also for its commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Each award further reinforces Esan’s identity as a pioneering leader shaping the future of innovative mining.
Committed to managing natural resources efficiently and responsibly, Esan has integrated the principles of sustainable mining across all its operations through initiatives such as Ecovadis certification, RMI (Responsible Minerals Initiative) compliance, and EBRD funding processes.
Operating across Turkey with 13 facilities and more than 1,800 employees, Esan provides direct and indirect employment opportunities to more than 3,500 people.
